Can you imagine how life will be in the future? What will a newspaper have for the news? Let's imagine that in the future everyone reads a newspaper from the internet. Also, they can access the internet from a computer worn on their wrist.
Let’s imagine that in the future there will be no more countries- in fact when you ask people where they are from they will simply say- “______ place, in The Earth”. Let’s also imagine that even though people are very religious, there are no religions as we have now. People will just say they ‘believe’. As in all things, though, variety will exist here. In fact, freed from the need to compare themselves to one another, religious ideas will grow greatly in their individualism.
What kind of news would such people read? Well there will be lots of news to say about even though it will be a lot more positive than news now. Many new animals will be made with genetic sciences, and peaceful creatures will be wherever you go. All of the world will be constantly connected through the internet, so news will come in of the ways of thinking of primitive tribes who are somewhat closer to the Earth. There will be all kinds of cultural exchanges taking place and many people will take an interest in them. To a certain extent, the passionate debates involved in this will replace sport as the arena in which differences and apparent conflicts are resolved, as a vehicle through which peoples can learn from one another. These exchanges will also involve peoples who, at the moment, are not so well known.
There may still be a fight against disease, as new diseases will still emerge even in this comparatively enlightened time. But a lot of research will be into ways to make people even more healthy and to help them to live longer.
Just as building a greater peace will replace war as the main concern, so health will replace disease. Right now this may all sound like the ‘End of History’, as much that we learn about in history classes will indeed be over and finished with. But we will feel much more that we are at the beginning of a new present- that we have only just started to live our collective life the way it was really intended to be…
Even Further in the Future…
Starships will travel to planets in deep space, with bundles of basic life, such as bacteria, to plant on them. As this life evolves, the planet will eventually be suitable for humans. Not only will they take a long time to get there, also the process of seeding life will take an incredibly long time. Many lifetimes, in fact.
