The Messiah
People may be unclear as to exactly what I meant in this article, or why I published it at this time. It is true that what I was saying was basically a synopsis of what is found in the Bible, though perhaps along with some 'alternative ideas'. But why say this here, and why now?
It wasn't simply to preach a gospel, this or any other gospel. It was to remind us all of the basic. important things in life and in religion- do good unto your neighbour- believe in a God of Love and in no other, false ones.
To discern the true from the false- this is the ultimate aim of any perception, of any process of thought. Such discernment is as vital in religious thinking as in forming any view of current events- even, I would say, it is vital in achieving any kind of happiness in day-to-day living.
Right values are not culturally defined, though they may be expressed in different ways by different cultures, by people with different predispositions, in different times, even. Yet, what is true and right is universal- it is not something subject to the whims of change.
Peoples of the world are now, as ever before, reaching out for a guiding light, often in human form, someone or something to provide guidance and direction. Not everyone feels qualified to simply think for themselves, especially when it comes to the deeper questions of existence. With this in mind, it can basically be said that the peoples of the world are looking for, even expecting a Messianic Figure. So I wish to do everything in my power to dissuade them from clinging to false ones.
The marks, the attributes of an authentic religious messiah are outlined, not systematically, not lineally, but nevertheless contained in my piece. Essentially a true Messiah is one who can deliver the spiritual rebirth and victory of the spirit that the prophesies promise. Material, military, merely economic victories may or may not accompany this- indeed following such an authentic messiah may even produce some forms of hardship, of righteous hardship in terms of being more inclined towards doing good to others, to an extent that may seem positively unhealthy to others. More to the point- such material victories can be offered just as well to encourage the following of that worst of all things- of a false messiah, offering signs and wonders to the unwary, to the weary, exploiting their plight.
It is with this in mind that we remain vigilant to the higher truth and refuse to be drawn into any following or worship of an Antichrist figure, such as may well continue to appear. It is Christian, or of the Messiah to offer salvation through peace... never through war! Those who offer the opposite are not just pandering to the delusions and power-lusts of a flawed humanity- they are feeding them.
So let us seek good food, food for the spirit, a victory for the spirit rather than for ourselves. In this way we can follow the ways of the righteous. In this way we can lay forth the path to golden, eternal, peace.
