I've decided that it's time for a new voice on this blog. Something closer to one saying what I really wish to. You see, part of the very purpose of this writing is to actually find my voice. I am evolving, finding myself as I do so. It is always, of course possible that I won't like what I find, just as Charlie Sheen on his riverboat in Apocalypse Now was horrified by what he found in himself. I may turn out to be a much more selfish person than I'd like to think. On the other hand, I may reach deeper still and find some kind of glorious, divine energy that realises my values and the promise of my online nickname.
Either way, what I find will be authentic. Here are some dimly apprehended impressions on this subject-
Something from the ancient Egyptian religion, something like a solar god existing within me, perhaps even within us all
A force of compassion which calls me to live exactly by the dictates of my conscience, yet somehow managing to harmonise this with the demands of everyday life.
Something buried deep within me, a kind of almost superhero-like potential, that the consumerism of the modern world can't hope to set alight.
Thus, I bring you Starfire, light of the ancients, inspiration of today and tommorow's generations.
Part of a collective personality, a cell in a body that can never truly be killed.
A light of hope in an ocean of darkness- yet a spark of those eternal suns that bathe the multiverse around us in cosmic light and will do so for eternity.
A leader for a world yet to emerge and the promise of still greater leaders yet to come.
A leader for those self-thinking, individuated ones who actually need no leader, just one who can articulate the subtlest desires adequately enough.
For what I find deep within is no mere mortal- it is the breath of light of a Starfire itself...
Whatever that may in fact be...
