There may well be conspiracies in the political realm, but the real conspiracy is closer to home. It is a conspiracy against intelligence, against the will to progress. If ever someone voices an urge to change, unless they do so from a position of power, they are often shouted down, or ridiculed, however politely. They are dismissed as a trouble-maker, as a malcontent, their happiness or sincerity is questioned. But I ask- how else to make life better but by changing things?
You see this in our own lives- I myself often get ridiculed or made fun of, politely 'spat on' for being more intelligent than the people around me. Is this arrogance talking- no, this is just the facts- I didn't chose to be intelligent- it is a natural gift. Yet unfortunately, as with so many of my ilk, this gift can be a curse as it.
We can also see this in society- the revolutionary thinkers are made fun of- until of course their ideas become sufficiently misinterpreted and diluted so as to become mainstream. Then the thinkers are worshiped as idols- yet the intelligence itself, that supra-human, perhaps spiritual force of guidance rarely receives such accolades. This means of course that those in the future who serve her are often treated just as badly.
'A prophet is never accepted at home'- what is a prophet but one who lights the path to change, in things either big or small (we are like ants on the ground when seen from an airplane, which goes to show how relative size is). 'The truth always receives persecution'; 'I will come as a thief in the night'. The religious scriptures are full of the sufferings of prophets and messiahs when the surrounding society is unable or unwilling to really listen to them and make the necessary changes they speak of. People have always been resistant to change- big or small- especially when the impulse to do so comes from below, from a mere 'commoner'. This is the cause of a lot of conflicts in the workplace or in the home- those who are dishonest with themselves and resist the beautiful call to change are to blame, who would rather make life difficult for the natural leaders than submit their egos and follow them. This unnatural situation has put back the path of progress and makes it slow and unwieldy. Yet have faith, oh intelligent ones- in the end it will be you and your ideas that shall be victorious. The truth is out there, sets you free and always, ultimately, wins the day.

Intelligence is no accident.
And that is why the voluntarily stupid hate it.
Nice comment- thanks. In some cases- and I mean this in all sincerity- the art of commenting on blogs exceeds the art of writing them.
It has the advantage of brevity and the ultimate power of wit!
