I read the article. That really is appalling, even more so that the sect has so far gotten away with it, shirking their responsibilities towards the children in their care. To my mind, the whole practice of threatening 'banishment to hell' for disobeying a religious leader's commands opens up Pandora's box so far as abuse of power is concerned.

It also reminds me a little of the film 'The Beach'. Assuming people join the sect because they feel it will give them a sense of family and community that they can't find in the wider society. Perhaps, if they are Mormons, they also think the (presumably charismatic) prophet there speaks for God.

But in such a situation, what happens to the people who don't fit in, who choose to accept things from outside, or who just violate one rule or another that no longer means anything to them? It seems that they get 'banished' to a wider society that they have been told is terrifyingly immoral- with the irony being that this society is left with the bill of looking after such people and cleaning up the mess.

Something is very fishy about a 'prophet' who takes all the attractive women for himself or his closest followers and then finds himself with an 'excess' of males.

Religious freedom being so sacrosanct, the state but be loath to intervene. It sounds like, laws of the land having been broken. they have decided to do just that, so hopefully in time things will get better for these boys...

Reading these comments, I am struck by the common denominator, which goes beyond cultures. This is in the fact that all the people speaking are doing so in attempts to improve the human rights situation. The cases where people are abused or neglected, especially women, the 'fairer sex' are seen as the most exploitative.

Each legal system, in terms of their fair-minded proponents, evolved to do just that. The relative ease of divorce in the West is seen as a guarantee of women's safety, a kind of 'right to veto' the marriage. Yet, there is still abuse of women, when men feel insecure or threatened. In the Islamic model, divorce is harder, but there is pressure to provide for multiple wives and treat them equally. Whether this is really possible or not is hard to know, but it seems to be a solution to the same problem- in which the ideal of monogamy is hard to fully live up to.

In each culture, there is the idea that a man who plays around is 'a stud' and a woman who does so is 'a slut'. This is pretty widespread as a notion- in a post-feminist world, this needs to be questioned and it seems to be based around biological assumptions of the male as more the 'hunter', which may or may not be true.

The answer to this is, variously, multiple marriage or serial monogamy. Man is unable to be faithful to the monogamous ideals. We face the great gap between reality and ideals- surely this is an essential part of the human condition.

To simply import the legal system that has evolved under the name of 'sharia' would be horrendous. Partly because in the areas of personal freedom, freedom of religion, freedom for women, it is light-years behind the western ideals. but in the areas of family relationships, respect for the bonds of mothers and their children, I suggest that, whilst importing may be a bad idea, there are lessons to be learnt.

Why do I say this? Because at this juncture in time the Western countries really do have terrible social problems- problems with broken families, delinquent youths, street gangs, drugs, abusive employers, poverty, crime. how can anyone in good conscious deny these failings, or the moral decline that has lead to them. People are losing their sense of community responsibility and caring for one another. The deification of profit (mammon) that capitalism teaches has been allowed to spread from the free-market into areas where it no longer belongs.

Whilst I am firmly against the specter of introducing Sharia laws because of their human rights failings, I am very much in favour of the West learning from Asia's close family structures and the sense of community to be found there, whilst the Eastern countries learn Western technology and of the respect for individual rights.

We need to learn from one another and try and make a peaceful place, whilst also guarding the evolution of the UK's own 'common law' for all. Attitudes should be the focus, as should education. This, to my mind, is the progressive path.

(The Archbishop of Canterbury recently called for some accommodation of Sharia law in Britain in an ill-advised lecture, which caused an uproar of condemnation. Trying to make sense of his presumably good intentions, this was my commentary on a Times Blog)

I'm pretty sure the archbishop just mainly referring to efforts to accommodate civil things like marriage customs, that the Muslim/Asian population will follow anyway and to help them do so legally. Civil courts to arrange such matters so that the minority can feel safe and that their personal preferences are legalised could, in such personal matters, be a good and progressive thing.

Yet this is a far cry from trying to be an apologist for even a small-scale implementation of 'Sharia Law'. The problem is that the 'Sharia' is not something to be trifled with, as overwhelming evidence from the Islamic world shows. Even allowing the traditional marriage styles opens up the problem of inbreeding causing birth defects, unreasonable welfare requirements for multiple wives and so on. Yet there needs to be some kind of accommodation in a multicultural world and the messenger who reminded us of this should not be shot, but rather thanked. In fact, he is really just explaining a process that will happen regardless of what anyone says.

On the one hand I am glad that so many people know how dangerous the notions of 'Sharia' law actually are and how antithetical they are to Jesus' teachings of forgiveness and love. I hope this never takes root in our free country as it clearly leads to unimaginable suffering. Yet I am saddened that his thoughtful attempts at commentary, even if seen as misguided, can be attacked so viscously. Perhaps the instinct to protect ourselves and the children in those communities from such dangers was awoken. He should make clear the civil and limited nature of his proposals and that they are for reasons of multicultural harmony. He should criticise the breaches of human rights in 'Islamic countries' and show his credentials as a supporter of human rights. Otherwise, he should probably resign.

However- this will not change anything, as ideas are more powerful than positions. It is quite possible that his deeper intention is to make sure that people can follow civil laws in a slightly exceptionalistic way, so as to be true to their religious beliefs, as some other posters have indicated. Now, this may be unpopular with the majority, especially if they feel that their values are accurately reflected by our secular society.

But democracy is all about protecting the rights of minorities, each person being in a sense a minority inasmuch as they are an individual. So there needs to be some conscientious opt-outs to be negotiated. Yet they need to be very limited in nature and not at all infringe on the rights of the majority, or of the innocent inside such communities.

Starfire Talks Getting too Personal ?

This blog is at times getting so personal and I am having so much fun discovering myself through it, that I really have no desire to stop on this journey. However, I recognise that people who may some day come to read the words of wisdom here may find it disappointing. So a new solution has emerged, much as has ever happened on this blog. A new offshoot is once again born- a green shoot has spread out into the net and is ready for a life of it's own!

Starfire Ponders?. Hey, now that has a ring to it! It will be my thoughts and feelings that I don't usually tell others and very hard to find, as it will be a diary. Not for the public. Not even for the initiated- just for the lucky and, of course, my maker as a kind of intimate communication with Him. Which is why, even here, I'm not giving the real name.

Starfire

God is a Fair Employer

Well, I'm back here and it seem that a lot of my blogger stuff has gradually moved over to my Perfect Futures pages and also my video-blogging. The latter is getting some attention, though I still need a lot of work on presentation. There are various series- Tech Talk, Cosmic Transitions (a kind of video-version of Starfire Teaches, or that's what I hope for), and the usual assorted clips and slideshows. I am also starting to pay more attention to issues- partly how they effect me (including emotionally- news seems to do that to me a lot, maybe I'm a bit of a news junkie) and how they potentially could do.

An amazing thing happened. I prayed to God for some financial reward for serving Him and compensation for my stress over the summer- a time when I tried to just do the right thing by my family, but was frequently misunderstood. I want to work for God and what kind of employer doesn't get around to paying? I was then promised a cheque in the mail, that would give me something to do with university in November, to the sum of about 1,000,000 yen, though there would be a 9 in there somewhere to make this possible. mysterious, huh?

A few days later, my mum emailed to say that she had been offered some more funds she was due from her parent's inheritance, $9,000 to be exact and she decided that she wanted it to be for me to study something in university to help with my future. I thanked her and asked if she wanted to split it or something- she said no, she wanted me to have it. It came and, converted to yen, it is about a million. but it arrived in October... hmmm. I took it to citibank, where it turns out they take 22 days or so to process the cheque, bringing me into that month.

So, for anyone paying attention, God does pay his prophets, his love is supra-material, but also in the material sphere. More to the point for me, it seems, with all this Nova crisis I had better improve my marketability and indeed employability for better-paying jobs- and an MA would seem to be the best way to do this (trying to drum up private students has yet to prove really profitable, but I suppose, like the occasional photographic job, it is fun and a good sideline). Come November, I will try to sign up for an online course.

Thanks, God, for this and of course everything else- dream girlfriend, apartment, job and beautiful co-worker too. I suppose many will say this is juts good luck or random chance, which is often what I say when I don't want to get too deep. But we all know how ridiculous it is to try putting any form of Worldly government before that of the Universe itself. God is in charge, sees all in our hearts and is very much not mocked. Clever words may impress one's fellow man- but not God- who respects the Love that is the essence of all things and ultimately rewards those who keep his most basic commandment- to LOVE.

Video Teaching Project

My desire to teach cosmic truth to a wider audience recently got a boost as I started 'video blogging' about it on YouTube. It is just beginning now, but the project calls for, 'direct, informal, lovable communication of cosmic truth. It is not expected to be overly scripted and should evolve into an effective medium for conveying messages in an easily digestable form'.

As is pretty well known, many spiritual teachers are remembered more for their utterances in person than for their books, (if they even wrote any), so this may offer a more 'immediate' route to teaching. The words on this screen are composed of generic characters- only by cleverly arranging them can I convey the emotion and feeling that I wish to. Handwriting is a little better, as it expresses your personality in the style- but it has pretty much died a death in this internet age.

It is hard to get to grips with new technologies- they keep changing so quickly and many would have you believe that you are doomed by using the wrong company's apps or devices- which means trailing through reviews before choosing anything. In some ways I regret starting out with MSN Spaces, as it takes so long to load and has a childish audience (on the whole), but it is there and there to stay, at least in terms of telling people what I am up to. It is the only place friends look me up.

My blogs here on Blogger have attracted a little attention, but it is deeply felt and relevant. It is not so much how many readers you have, as how well they understand you. All the anonymous hits on Pbase can't compare to the few heart-felt comments on Blogger. It is all so relative.

Nevertheless, my teaching project is inherently evangelical, a reach-out from the powers of heaven to the often sadly lost peoples of the Earth. It needs to be accessible- it needs to convey feeling directly as words without feeling lose their meaning- or even worse, attain a generic one. So lets all hear it for the video-blogging project- may it avoid technological hurdles and inappropriate attention, and help people to discover their true nature- help people to be free from the 'matrix' of modern, consumerist life.

The Work

It came to me in a dream, as all the best ideas do. My next step is to write a book- I have the time, I think I have the will, all that is needed is the ideas and the inspiration. A book is a long, drawn out process but also a chance to more fully develop one's ideas on paper.

Of course, it will be serialised here to some extent in advance, where my audience (no-one and everyone) will see it! It will cover some of the themes here, but it will also be fresh and original, breathing new life into the whole genre of 'the book'. I am thinking of having a character who desires to break free from the limitations of suburban life, but also from the 'dangerous' escapisms that so often figure in usual attempts.

In order to expand it's appeal, I can deliberately restrict the appearance of 'exotic elements' such as talk of angels or extraterrestrial beings. Though they will remain in the background, as my aim is to present a realistic vision, not a human-centric fantasy of a universe controlled only by homo-sapiens, the existance of more highly-evolved beings being denied. Yet, I should remember my chosen audience- the best and brightest of the generation and the rest of the population along with them.

The work is taking form in my dreams, so far it is extremely vague. I actually for a long time didn't like the idea of making a book, as it seemed too contrived and overdone. But the genre, the medium, rather, exists for a reason and a book (as scripture, for example) can be far more than a 'book'. It can be a gateway to other worlds.

The truth is that I haven't picked up a book in a long while, being immersed in the internet, seen through my screen. I also haven't written on paper much, preferring the word-processor ability to re-edit on the computer. If all of this sounds a little soulless, perhaps it is, but convenience, instant publishing and having everything in one place is what makes it so attractive, not to mention the automatic spell-checking.

If Starfire Talks is primarily a record of my thoughts, it makes sense that they should have a concrete goal- if no real destination. something that can be referred to. For a while I flirted with the idea of The Foundation, but that simply hasn't become any clearer and at least to my personality, seems overwhelming. So the next stage, if nothing changes, is that of The Work- a book, perhaps, but in fact something more.

Comment- A Reply to Ratbert's Comment

Thank you for getting back to my comment on your blog. I partly wrote on yours because the monologues we construct can easily become esoteric if we are not careful. I do however realise the context in which you are writing and the intended audience.

As Derrida says, the ancient Greeks referred to writing as a gift with mixed implications, a ‘Pharmakon’- something somewhere between a medicine and a poison- something like a ‘drug’. We seem to need it to communicate over the distances we have built between one another, over time and space, yet I fear it induces as much misunderstanding as understanding in the way we tend to use it, whether it be on the side of writing or reading. Like Socrates advised, it always needs to be balanced with the living appreciation of truth, with philosophy, with ultimate values.

Fortunately, your writing has enough a mix of creativity and articulation for the meaning to be clear to any fair-minded reader, even those who may not agree with the conclusions reached there. It brings clarity, not confusion. But we need to be careful, lest we mistakenly communicate something less than our highest intentions and become no more than just another opinion writer. I think we need to always remember our ultimate values, to balance our views with reference to them.

Right now, through the Internet, we have an incredible opportunity for people to share their views like never before; but like any technology, it all depends upon how we use it. Seeing our recent surge in technology being utilised as much for war as for medicine makes me realise that this world will be defined by what is written in our hearts, where the essential progress lies. Our cleverness must be ruled by our compassion.

Comment- Feeling Alive

(This is in response to a piece about having a wonderful spring day in Valdez, but hearing the same old songs on the radio)

Here we have a conundrum- how do we keep feeling alive in a world that we have populated with so much sameness? On the one hand, each new day the bright sun unveils new wonders for us, the weather is so-slightly like never before- the snow, or rain, or clear skies beckon us to a new sense of wonder.

Yet the human society is in its usual patterns. The same songs being played, we are almost being asked, 'be small, be temporary, fit into the system- who do you think you are, supposing something new and incredible is happening today? It's the same old stuff and here is the same old song, just to prove it!'

The irony is that like any art, that song was a work of revolution, of evolution, bursting free from the mundane, with all is deadness-of-heart. Yet put in a picture frame, played endlessly on a radio, it gets subsumed into 'the establishment', the ordinary, the mundane, making us feel lifeless again.

We are truly lost if we allow ourselves to be subsumed into society. Society is there to protect us, not us it. It has no rights, no legitimate opinions. We need a life lived beyond the media, a life filled with the mysterious wonder of each new day. Such is the real life. Such is the life the artists beckon us to, time after time, eon after eon.

Life only has a meaning, if we feel alive.

Comment- Finding Peace in the Middle East

Note- this is a comment I left on A Sofa in the Sky, here-

As usual, I am impressed by the articulation of your writing, something rare to be found in this age of 'sound-bites' and entertainment passing for information. Even though I am not totally in agreement with what you are saying, at least I can see what you are saying without feeling I'm being 'lead somewhere' by it.

What you say regarding red herrings has some truth- in these political battles, even though I personally am morally opposed to the use of violence, the presence of violence shouldn't blind us to underlying facts, by it's shock factor. Of course violence is shocking- but it has been around as long as people. The question is whether the situation justifies it or not, whether it is morally defensible violence, or simply indefensible.

I'll admit, even though I can see that it has grown though factors such as Western neglect/self-centeredness and, conversely, the desire of their clerical class to keep a privileged position in a secularising world, I do feel threatened by Islamic extremism. When I say, 'I', I mean not just myself, but also all those I care for, especially minorities such as the Christians and Baha'is in the middle East, or people who just want a peaceful life.

To an extent this leads me to a sympathetic position with those opposing such people, wherever they are- they are 'me', if you like. I suppose I am in this sense an internationalist, though I can't pretend to sympathise with everyone.


It seems to me that we are all built this way, with our sympathies. What is important is that we are not led to follow someone's personal agenda by this. The fact that some things prick our consciences should not lead us to have the 'wool' pulled over our eyes by those who have more hate of their enemies than a desire to build a stable reconciliation with them.

In this case, the enemies must be those who really don't wish for peace between Israelis and Palestinians, but instead wish for the dominating victory of one or the other. I hate to say it, but the so-called 'two-state solution' could even institutionalise the hatred (actually a relatively young one, if you start looking at the events from 1948 onwards instead of from BC 1948 onwards), if there are not enough trade and cultural links.

So let's build a multi-state, secular, Middle-Eastern solution, where people relate without their religion being the dominant factor. They can even embrace one another's religions, it just won't divide them anymore. If people wonder how this could happen, just look at all the Western countries where this has long been the case.

How can we build such a thing? The same way we sustain or influence anything else- by doing our part, however small. We just have to make sure to align ourselves with those who truly care about the future and about precious human rights. To do this we need very clear thinking people, who actually have the courage to care. Then, ultimately we will find that it isn't the violent people who make history. It's the people who know how to wield a pen.

A Disclaimer

I'd like to add a little disclaimer, at this point. The reasons for it are many-fold but quite simply, it is as much for me as for you. Certain articles here are sourcing external sites, which I found to be of interest and provocative of thoughtful discussion. Other than pointing whatever readers I may have here towards such sources, I can claim no credit or responsibility for what they may find there. It's neither my personal work, nor my personal thoughts- the latter may however be given in my commentary, especially after pressing the 'read more' button. Despite this being my blog I wish to avoid any kind of elevated sense of self-achievement or any dishonest claims of authorship. This, I believe, is the nature of humility, and the correct poise for each of us if we are to remain balanced and psychically healthy, in our communications with each other.

There is another species of commentary here, which I would also like to make clear that I can take no personal credit for. This is that attributed to higher beings, or signed with the appellation 'Starfire'.

The reason being, is that this is the area of higher thoughts or even of low-level revelation. My usual personality is not the author, though it may well be transmitted through this, as well as my electrochemical soma (body) that is typing out the words. I may be proud of what I see as the appropriateness or inspired nature of some of these pronouncements, but they can and must only come through those who can see that they are not works that they can take credit for. The ego is a natural part of our psychological makeup yet can certainly get in the way of heavenly transmissions of wisdom. It is my hope that, by saying this, I have guarded us from such an eventuality which would threaten the purity of these transmissions. It could even end them. My work is that of a messenger and incarnate human- communication of the works of higher minds are just that, they are the fire of the stars, the words of Starfire- not the thoughts of my temporal personality.

I am not 'great man', I am an ordinary person blessed and gifted with these visions of splendour. Only natural and ordinary men are ever able to receive thus... which means that we all have such capacity, if we lead a life of healthy habits that clear the heavenly channels within us, and let higher voices vibrate with our thoughts. They eternalise our personal experiences and are the stuff or true religion, of purest poetry- they are quite literally God speaking through and with us.

I quote from The Urantia Book of the necessity of such measures-

“When the development of the intellectual nature proceeds faster than that of the spiritual, such a situation renders communication with the Thought Adjuster both difficult and dangerous. Likewise, over-spiritual development tends to produce a fanatical and perverted interpretation of the spirit leadings of the divine indweller. Lack of spiritual capacity makes it very difficult to transmit to such a material intellect the spiritual truths resident in the higher super-consciousness. It is to the mind of perfect poise, housed in a body of clean habits, stabilized neural energies, and balanced chemical function – when the physical, mental, and spiritual powers are in triune harmony of development – that a maximum of light and truth can be imparted with a minimum of temporal danger or risk to the real welfare of such a being.” (110:6.4)

“Even when they do find it possible to flash a gleam of new truth to the evolving mortal soul, this spiritual revelation often so blinds the creature as to precipitate a convulsion of fanaticism or to initiate some other intellectual upheaval which results disastrously. Many a new religion and strange “ism” has arisen from the aborted, imperfect, misunderstood, and garbled communications of the Thought Adjusters.” (110:4.5)

For me, this means that there is a constant urge on the part of the thought Adjuster, that spark of God residing deep within us, to inspire us, to make our thoughts eternalised, through unobtrusive, loving influence. Only by being healthy ourselves can it be possible for them to do this. So let us help that part of God within us, let us be free.

The main reason to monitor what is going on isn't just idle speculation, or just because it is fashionable to be interested in conspiracy theories. Really, it's to try and find out what really is going on and what to expect for the future- the latter being something that it is very hard to see clearly. So, as well as reading the regular news sites, which I suppose I rely on for the facts, I also look around on the net for various interpretations of the facts, including so-called 'conspiracy theory sites', which often quote from the main-stream media but have a very different take on what is going on. For example, I came across this thread speculating about

June 19th.

Apparently, according to The Washington Post, a rather large Federal emergency exercise will take place in the USA on this day, involving as many as 4,000 government employees from various branches of the government. They'll be moving to a classified network of underground bunkers and shelters, in simulation of a large-scale attack, far larger than on September 11th. In fact, it's the largest such exercise ever conducted in history, made a lot easier with portable technologies such as PDAs and Blackberries to facilitate communication. See here for more on this.

Now of course, this could just be an exercise, but it needs to be remembered that at 8:30 in the morning of September 11th there was a NORAD exercise to prepare for... guess what... hijacked planes crashing into the World Trade Center and the Pentagon. This exercise really did happen, just on that time and was likewise reported of in The Washington Post. Similarly, with the London Bombings a simulation of bombs simultaneously going off, in exactly the same times and places as in the real world, was being held on the same day- in fact a morning TV interview with Peter Powers, the man from the consultancy agency in charge of it, was interrupted by the real-life events. Whilst some may see this as a coincidence, others see it as part of a 'smoke-screen' to hide official involvement in the real events.

As for myself, well I have to say that there may well be exercises used as a way of covering up real events, to scare the population into agreeing to things that otherwise there is no way they'd even think of accepting. But bearing in mind how many drills there are and in this case the very obviousness of this one, I don't think we can use them as a reliable predictor. If there really is a secretive movement to make a 'world government' or at least apply more dictatorial powers in certain regions, powers that sadistic minds would desire simply because they are sick and enjoy such things (and perhaps can make more profits in the situation, too), then they are more likely to use these events to cover their tracks towards this. To coincide with Bilderberg meetings, G8 forums, legislation granting illegitimate powers, and discredit the opposition to them by keeping terrorism on the agenda and confusing democratic skepticism with it. So that 'if you're not with us, you're with the terrorists' could be twisted into saying 'if you object to the police state and the monopolies it protects you're in sympathy with terrorists'. I really could see something like this as being their objective.

But even if it is, they are wasting their time. If we know one thing, it's that sooner or later the truth comes out and that those in variance with it will be exposed and ridiculed. Even more so, sinful and deceptive behaviour produces nothing good for anyone- any profits gained thereby are illusory and joyless. God simply doesn't reward such behaviour and only His rewards count. So give it up, conspirators. I have the high ground- you simply can't win!

Alex Jones Bullhorns Bilderberg Group

Taking of the end times, many suspect that a conspiracy centering around the highly-powered yet secretive Bilderberg Group is behind the cycles of war and peace that we are so little in control of. They themselves claim to be a group of influential; individuals who seek an informal venue in which to discuss the world's most pressing problems, most especially from the perspective of Europe and the US. In fact, as this document makes clear, they are predominantly from the 'Old Europe' that the Bush Group claims to be in defiance of- Bilderberg meetings press release.

Yet a much less glowing assessment can be found here on Libertarian Alex Jones' site, in which they are seen to be much more the manufacturers of the world's sense of fear and oppression, rather than an answer to it. Revisiting The Bible Code

Maybe you are aware of it, but many believe that by putting all of the words of the Hebrew Bible end to end (otherwise known as the Torah), and then searching for patterns in these words, mysterious things will come to light. This is generally done with the aid of a computer program, which is able to mathematically search for these patterns once the subject is entered. This apparently works for historical figures but most of all is being used by people to anticipate events in the coming 'end times'. Quite a lot of these are seen as related to our current year (2006) and the current president of the USA (George W. Bush, in case you still don't know!)

Personally, I am not quite sure of what to make of it all- patterns tend to naturally form and we can see in them what we wish. A cloud can be a horse or an airplane or even a dragon... it all depends on what we wish to see. Yet this does not mean that such patterns are necessarily without meaning, and the suggestion of The Bible Code is that these are divinely bestowed patterns with divinely given meanings. I think all this is indeed possible, but stop short of affirming that we are actually capable of seeing them, much less seeing clearly any that may refer to our possible futures.

For some examples of what people are finding there, or at least what they think they are finding there, see The Bible Codes. At the most, they present apocalyptic possibilities, not certainties and reveal the hypocricy in the hearts of the corrupt... just as the prophets in the Bible always managed to. Whether they are real at all or not is another matter. People will always want to know the future. They need to remember, though, that it is something they help to bring about. I certainly hope that the events seen in The Bible Code never need to happen at all.

The Urantia Book Audio

Great news- now the entire Urantia Book is available in audio form. So it can be listened to while we are doing any number of diverse things... reading, cooking, cleaning, blogging, sleeping, spending time with our loved ones. Like any book, it is a start and not a finish, the later being the way we actually live our lives. Yet it can serve as a great inspiration and a source of fantastic and eternal truths- yes, the truth is something fantastic, something wonderful, something more than we might usually imagine. The Urantia Book makes this all abundantly clear.

Akashic Records - From Wikipedia

One claim made by the Author of the Book of Aquarius is that he learned of these travels of Jesus to the Eastern lands via the Akashic Records- the 'memory banks' of the universe. Whilst I am not sure how strictly historical the accounts in this Gospel are, I believe that they are essentially so- that they are true to the spirit of the teacher and the times. Am I too easily satisfied, prone to wishful thinking? Hope not- but you be the judge of that!

I do think that these records exist, as well. Perhaps one day The Internet and even some of this blog will be revealed as part of them, part of the vast consciousness, in which nothing of any value is ever lost. Some who believe in the Records claim that they were used by ancient peoples around the world, including the Indians, Moors, Tibetans, Egyptians, Persians, Chaldeans, Greeks, Chinese, Hebrews, Christians, Druids, and Mayans. The belief is that the ancient Indian sages of the Himalayas knew that each soul recorded every moment of its existence in a 'book', and that if one attuned oneself properly then one could read or view that book. The Skywalkers

There are a couple of passages that really caught my eye in The Voice of The Silence. This was supposed to have been etched on mysterious, metal disks found in Tibetan temples, often dating back more than a millenia.

One was a passage describing a 'Skywalker'- which reminded me of the surname George Lucas gave to Luke. In this case, though, it describes someone of great spiritual attainment, who can appear to walk on water the way Jesus did. It refers to a thin layer of wind floating above the water, which the can be walked across.

"Then from the heart that Power shall rise into the sixth, the middle region, the place between thine eyes, when it becomes the breath of the ONE-SOUL, the voice which filleth all, thy Master's voice.'Tis only then thou canst become a "Walker of the Sky" who treads the winds above the waves, whose step touches not the waters."


Now, I have believed for quite some time that Jesus received training in a Tibetan or North Indian monastery and there are even historical records which point to this. Isn't Christianity at heart a Buddhism for the Jewish people, notwithstanding it's original and revolutionary concepts, and it's divine source in a reincarnation of God? It makes sense to me to see the miracles just this way- as exhibitions of spiritual attainments which would be recognised as such by those 'in the know' just as the quotations from scripture were used as evidence of Jesus' role.

Another passage I just love is the footnote for the same piece-

"Keshara or "sky-walker" or "goer". As explained in the 6th Adhyaya of that king of mystic works the Dhyaneswari- the body of the Yogi becomes as one formed of the wind; as" a cloud from which limbs have sprouted out", after which-"he (the Yogi) beholds the things beyond the seas and stars; he hears the language of the Devas and comprehends it, and perceives what is passing in the mind of the ant".

Just imagine hearing the Deva's voices, the voices of the gods, and also seeing an ant's thoughts! I find this to be a wonderful display of awareness of the breadth and scope of the Creation- a poetic summary of just what this means for us.

Most of The Voice of The Silence is a moral teaching, showing how if we take on the sufferings of others, truly absorb them and take them on as our own, those very tears bring forth a great compassion and love... which in turn brings us up the ladder towards enlightenment. Yet before we enter there, the truly compassionate halt, turning back to help the beings of the universe, out of love staying in the world of Maya so as to bring all other beings forward with them. This sacrifice is the great and noble sacrifice of love, of the Bodhisattva. It is this that the voice of the silence speaks of. Moving and wonderful... and for me, quite simply true...
